Plural of maraquero . Musician of a band that performs music to the beat of a maracas. He also calls maraqueros to red acacia trees, flamboyan or acacia from Girardot. Other common names are: chivato , malinche , josefino , ponciana , tabacín , gallito . The scientific name of this tree is Delonix regia and belongs to the fabaceae family. In Colombia, maraqueros are also birds of the Pipridae family. Here, we also call them jumpers, dancers and matraqueros. They belong to the genus Manacus.
