According to the Holy Bible, it was the name of a son of Enoch, therefore cain's grandson. In Hebrew it can mean runner or the one who returned to the city. In other texts, they give it the meaning of witness city. In Africa, it is the acronym of the Agricultural Research Institute for Development in Cameroon.
