It can be indifferently the name given to the fabric produced or also to the technique of production of fabrics, by means of an artisanal fabric. They are fabrics that are then dyed or dyed by special ties. Within these fabrics and techniques is the Rona de llengües, traditional in Mallorca. The term ikkat can also be used.

IKAT Best preserved artisanal technique, intangible heritage of Ecuador, used for the manufacture of gualaceo macanas or gualaceo cloths, (province of Azuay, canton of Ecuador). Its name comes from the Malay meaning rope, thread, fabric, head cloth. Tinctures for polychromatic cloths are obtained from tocte (walnut), mealybug, bougainvillea, ñachac, cabbage, grill, onion, indigo, etc. Some synonyms, words or similar expressions can be kasuri, batik, bullkay, bulzhun
