In Colombia we also say fachoso. You mean vain, believed, smug, bluffing, proud. He likes to show himself as the best, who likes to be admired.

The word "fachento" in Costa Rica acquires its meaning, first of all, within a specific situation: some kind of personal success. For example, a young man has just bought a car (especially if it's for the first time) and that puts him in the spotlight. You will do your best to show your purchase by mentioning it, showing up with the car, etc. Those who look at him will notice that his happiness is accompanied by a certain air of evident arrogance. A penthouse will say that the young man "walks everything fachento". You'll notice it by the young man's coduct, now different. Secondly, the word may denote that a person has this behavior as part of his personality. In such a case, he is described as saying that "he is a fachento". When he shows up in his car, we say he's "fachenteando." It rarely applies to women. Perhaps, they express something similar but possibly in a healthy way. In that context she would say: "She is proud of ( her home, her profession, her parents, her country, etc. ) . This is what we understand as a healthy pride; which contrasts with arrogance. If the woman has an unhealthy pride, we would say she is "a proud, arrogant one." Returning to the first meaning, the ticos have a verb and its corresponding adjective to describe our perception of the young man used as an example. If the boy exaggerates his attempts to get attention, we will say that "he is cracking" and that "he is a crack" to indicate his personality type. It is assumed that this use is derived from the typical action of the peasant to take an axe and split (crack ) firewood longitudinally. That way, you can impress a potential lifemate candidate by showing her a skill that makes her focus her attention on him. Finally, for the personality of the fachento, we can say that "he is a belief", or that "a lot is believed".

In Costa Rica FACHENTO meaning cheerful, happy, satisfied, but also means that denotes it, especially by the expression of his face and his attitude. I think that at least in my country ( Costa Rica ) the word FACHENTO is derived from FACIA ( 41 Italian face;. There is also the term FACHENTERA, which is joy, happiness, and until such time occasionally, arrogance. Directly related to these terms, there is the word FACHA, meaning appearance, appearance and mood. I am not sure that these words are used exclusively in Costa Rica.
