Adjective of hybrid etymology, from the Greek prefix dia- , through , by and from the Latin stratum , strato , bed , bedspread , blanket . It is said of the linguistic level that the speaker has according to the cultural and social one. Linguists, for example Eugenio Coseriu, distinguish in the use of the language a cultured, medium and vulgar level.
