TONAMIL means "Milpa Sun" from the NAHUATL language. TONA means "Sun", MIL means "corn cornfield". The first planting of maize of the year is June-October (rainy days) and the second seeding is diciembre-Mayo (very sunny days) by that reason is called TONAMIL
