In Guatemala a intoxicating drink with a high degree of alcohol. The production of intoxicaants in the country dates back to pre-Hispanic times, when the Maya made drinks from the "chicha", which is the only one with pre-Columbian origin, as it was produced based on the fermentation of maize, mesoamerica's own product. The cusha, extracted from the chicha, was used during the rituals of the Maya and other peoples that inhabited the region.
