The word biomarker is not recognized in the Royal Academy of Language, although it is a widely used term in science, mainly in biology and medicine. It is a biological marker indicating a biological state. They are substances that are used to measure diseases or their processes.

Substance of our organism normally present in the blood, which is indicative of our biological state, as our ability to face infections.
