Its scientific name is Bacopa monnieri. The word is of Caribbean origin and was the name of a Indigenous Taíno from French Guiana. In some parts in Papiamento means banana (by bacova or bacoba). The plant is for medicinal uses and serves to treat epilepsy and asthma.
