It is the name of the woman who belongs to a matriarchal tribe of warriors, according to Greek mythology that influenced the Latin imaginary; it was even supposed to exist in the Americas. It is known that there were peoples with women hunters and warriors in Asia and Europe, which could be the origin of the myth. The name 945; 956; 945; 950; 969; 957; (amazóon) is surely taken from Persian, where there was a similar word for "warrior"; although there is an unlikely Greek etymology where it would mean "without breast", and it is justified with a legend about the amputation of the right-handed chest to better handle the bow and arrow. 2º_ Related to the previous one, the woman who practices horseback riding is called 'Amazon'. 3º_ 'Amazona' is one of the common names of the plant Damasonium alisma found in the Euro-African Mediterranean region and in Western Asia. 4º_ 'Amazona' is the genus of birds of the family Psittacidae that inhabits from the Amazon rainforest to Mexico. See Amazon .
