I have heard that in the area of el Bierzo, Asturias, use "panar" as synonymous with the word harvest fruits, which may indicate that this is the origin of that term, in the Peru, is used extensively, with the same meaning: "harvest fruits that are harvested from the ta llo up, not as well which are harvested below it. For instance, in the Hacienda Huando in Huaral, they say: "Let's panar oranges", or "panar cotton", but cannot be used to harvest potatoes or sweet potatoes.
