SOLILOQUY = theatrical monologue that appears to be a series of thoughts unsaid. During the 16th and 17th Centuries was a theatrical Convention accepted, and was skillfully used by William Shakespeare to reveal the thoughts of its characters. Pierre Corneille enhanced his lyricism, while Jean Racine favored it for its dramatic effect; However, the 40 English restoration comedies; 1660 85 ) abused in this way and it eventually fell into disuse.
