Cavity of reproductive females of certain invertebrates ( insects, spiders, molluscs... ) and vertebrates in which stored the sperm of the male after copulation in anticipation of the female egg for fertilization. The word derives from the Greek: sperma spermatos: seed, seed, germ, principle and theke thekes: box, deposit. It also means seed bank or Bank of sperm or ova, although this word even the SAR has not recognized it.
